To a Friend...

>> Wednesday, March 31, 2010

Good friends are hard to come by.  They are there through thick and thin, through ups and downs, the shoulder you cry on...

(excerpt from Dionne Warwick's music lyrics - 'That's What Friends Are For')
Keep smilin', keep shinin'
Knowin' you can always count on me, for sure
That's what friends are for
For good times and bad times
I'll be on your side forever more
That's what friends are for

Well, you came and opened me
And now there's so much more I see
And so by the way I thank you

Saying Thank You

"Silent gratitude isn't much use to anyone..." - Gladys Brown Stern
Sending a card to thank you is stil very much appreciated when received.  It is best to begin with the reason(s) you are sending the card.  More likely it will state - “Thank You” in some form on the front but it is needs to be specific.  Take example, if you have just spent the evening dining at your friend's home, by all means begin with acknowledging just that.  Mention what you enjoyed most – the company, food, hospitality, conversations, sharing or his / her grandmother’s recipe, etc. Expressed it by saying “…There is no greater pleasure than eating a great meal with such great company. Thank you for the lovely dinner…”].  If you brought the hostess a gift, casually mention it and say "...I hope you have enjoyed the bottle of wine...".  Well, the note does not have to be long.  However, it needs to be written (personalise factor) or printed / typed and sent off quickly preferably within a week.

Here are some general sayings to express one’s gratitude:
• Thank you very much
• I cannot thank you enough
• Thank you for just being you…
• I am forever in your debt, thank you
• Thank you for all you have given us
• My gratitude is endless
• Thank you from the bottom of my heart
• You have my sincerest thanks
• Thank you for your helping hand
• Please accept our most sincere thanks / gratitude
• Your well wishes are greatly appreciated
• Thank you from the bottom of my heart
• Eternally thankful for / to you
• Your generosity has made me speechless - thank you!
• Thank you for everything
...and the lists goes on...

First Day Blogging

>> Wednesday, March 24, 2010

The ability to commit to blogging is like getting into a relationship.  Love, time, effort...  Of course, blogging would have its ups and downs - at times you'll feel inspired, while other times you would like any other than to seat in front of the screen typing away.  Well, my reason to start blogging is very simply.  It is to challenge myself and at some point of time to feel the sense of achievement, to grow in time as a writer, and to showcase what I enjoy doing during my free time - handmade greeting cards.

In the last few days, I am proud to say that I have achieved in putting together my personal blog.  It may seem effortless to many, but if you come from a background not knowing anything about softwares, applications, and the list goes on - this would consider as an achievement.  So, 'hooray' to me - my diligence and perseverance have paid off.  A little more tweeking and it's all ready to go.
